Regen Cavanagh

Born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia, Coach Regen Cavanagh is a testament to the talent cultivated within his hometown. His journey in hockey began as a young player with the Hampton Roads Whalers in the Chilled Ponds house league. With dedication and skill, he swiftly ascended through the ranks of the organization, spending three seasons with the Hampton Roads Junior Whalers in the USPHL tier 3 league.

 Eager to push his limits further, Coach Cavanagh embarked on a new chapter with the Corpus Christi Ice Rays in tier 2 of the NAHL, where he distinguished himself by earning the prestigious Rookie of the Year accolade. His impressive performance caught the attention of higher echelons, leading him to join the ranks of tier 1 hockey in the USHL, where he proudly represented the Dubuque Fighting Saints and the Sioux Falls Stampede. 

Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Coach Cavanagh committed to Utica University, where he showcased his talent and dedication over five remarkable years in NCAA competition. Undoubtedly leaving a lasting impact, he concluded his illustrious playing career with the team he watched growing up, the Norfolk Admirals, solidifying his legacy as both a formidable athlete and a revered figure in the hockey community.

Brandon Osmundson

Brandon Osmundson, a native of Chesapeake,
Virginia, discovered his passion for hockey at the age of 4 when he took his first strides
on the ice. Throughout his youth, he dedicated himself to the sport, proudly representing the Hampton Roads Whalers. At 16, Brandon embarked on his junior hockey career with the Hampton Roads Whalers, where he spent two years at the Elite level followed by three years at the Premier level. Demonstrating remarkable leadership, he served as team captain during his final two years, leading the team to two national championships and amassing an impressive 342 points in 204 games.
Upon transitioning to collegiate hockey, Brandon joined Utica University's NCAA Division 3 team. In his freshman year, he made a significant impact, recording 42 points in 29 games and earning recognition as the NCAA Rookie of the Year, along with multiple conference awards. Over his four-year tenure at Utica, he accumulated 118 points in 97 career games, securing his position as the 4th all-time leading scorer in the university's history. Following his collegiate success, Brandon embarked on his professional journey with the Huntsville Havoc in the SPHL. His exceptional
performance, including 13 points in just 16 games, earned him a call-up to the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL, where he continues to excel as a valuable member of his hometown team.

Kody Rodriguez

Coach Rodriguez, a Rancho Cucamonga, CA native, embarks on his 8th year of coaching, his first 4 years were with the junior program where he helped lead the Whalers to 3 National Championships as an assistant coach, twice in 2017-18 as the Whalers Elite and Premier teams pulled off dual National Championships, and again in 2018-2019 when the Premier team went back to back, winning their 3rd National title in 4 years.

The last three seasons he has worked in a different roll by developing youth hockey in the Chesapeake area. In his first year with the youth, he was with the squirt 2011-2012 mixed birth year team. He is now with that same core coaching 2011 birth year team.

Next season he looks forward to coaching the bantam AA team. His passion for developing the sport in the area is second to none. His energy, passion, and knowledge of the game is what makes him a great leader. 
Prior to coaching, coach Rodriguez spent his youth hockey in California playing AAA hockey for The California Wave and LA Selects  Hockey Club. He then moved on to play 4 years of junior hockey, including his final season in the green and blue!
